Georgia O'keeffe - Artist Unit

We were simply amazed at the paintings by this American great artist, her huge flowers and the use of bright colors just made her one of our favorites so far! You can almost feel like you are in one of her paintings.

I believe through her paintings the kids can really learn that the use if dark colors add depth into the painting.

We had lots of fun learning about Georgia O'keeffe, now you can check out some of the fun activities we did in this Greatest Artists unit, to accompany the curriculum we used the book Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists - Georgia O'keeffe by Mike Venezia.

Below, you can see Little V working on her mini-book, basically she matches the name of the paintings with the picture of the paintings, and write about what type of medium was used for that specific painting.

Some of the paintings that she likes, she knows ahead of time what type of medium was used.

Now, the fun part is to really get hands on the brushes and let the creativity begin. Below, you can see Little V painting with watercolor cakes, inspired by Georgia O'keeffe work.

Here's the completed project:

She loves puzzles, so here is she putting together one of Georgia O'keeffe's paintings. This picture was printed and laminated for durability.

We are enjoying our summer vacation very much! I started working on her new school area, we definitely outgrew the little area I designated for school before. I'll keep you all posted with all the work that has been done on an upcoming post.

How's your vacation?

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
