Van Gogh Inspired Self-Portrait!

During our Vincent Van Gogh unit of the Greatest Artists, we learned a few facts about this great artist life. He was a very dramatic artist and had lots of anger issues, to the point that he cut off part of his ear. After the incident, he painted pictures of himself and I used this lesson as an opportunity to teach little V how Jehovah God feels about anger, violence against others and against oneself.

Vincent Vah Gogh seemed always disturbed with the suffering he saw people going through and it reflected clearly on his drawings and paintings as well. The Bible assures us that soon all suffering will be a thing of the past (Revelation 21:4) and this gave a positive turn, therefore I was also able to help her see the importance of sharing the good news with others. Many people feel like Van Gogh, and the feeling of not being able to help causes them to feel depressed.

To finish the lesson, I asked her to think of a time she had a little injure and to draw herself and how she felt when she had the little injure.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
